A practical way to connect your milestones before a delay becomes a surprise.
Find the milestones that cannot move
Begin with commitments such as possession, inspections and the opening date. Write down the dates that are confirmed and label those that are estimates. An uncertain date should remain visible rather than quietly becoming a promise.
Connect the dependencies
For each milestone, ask what needs to be finished first. Equipment installation may depend on power and floor completion. Training may depend on a usable site. A schedule becomes more useful when these relationships are explicit.
Allow for review and rework
Include time for approvals and corrections, not just task execution. Agree who reviews the work and how long the decision should take. Keep a recovery option for milestones that could put opening day at risk.
